So...

I've been thinking... I was reflecting on today's blogging and on what to write about tonight, and I came to a conclusion. I think I've been hypocritical... I've written that I don't support cliques, therefore I shouldn't support a blog that supports cliques.

What I mean is, I got a little paranoid reading over some of our comments made today. As much as I support free speech, I don't want anyone's feelings to be "ruffled." With that in mind, I have deleted some of the comments made today, including several of mine own. I was thinking we might keep the comments on the blog free from issues with people/groups at school... Are you following me? Am I making sense?

I just want the blog to be a goody-licious place for people to come, chat, talk about good or bad things in their lives, and catch up with friends. I don't want anyone to be upset by what's written on the blog. I want everyone and anyone to use it should they so please. When I created it, it wasn't for one group in particular, but for anyone at library school who wanted to catch up with friends, which is what I wanted to do in the first place. Is this okay?

If you guys are upset at me for doing this, I apologize. I don't want anyone to be mad at me.

At the same time, don't think I don't want to hear about the problems you're having, or when you're upset! I really do! I just think, because anyone can get to this blog, that the blog isn't the place to do it... k?

... But please keep using the blog... I'm not mad at anyone... I was just giving myself a check... I can't say one thing, and do another... Does this make sense?

Women

Okay, Jenny raised a good point on the blog the other day: I only commented on movie star men I found attractive... What about women?!

So I thought about it... And then I saw a Beyonce video, and I thought, "man alive! That woman oooozes sexiness!" I can't even imagine what it would be like to be that sexy?! Now, that's not to say that I don't think I'm not sexy in my own way, just as we all are. I know that. But we have to admit that the girl's got it going on.

I think that if I was as sexy as she is I would be drunk with power. DRUNK WITH POWER!

HMMMMMUUUUhahahahahah (evil laugh). I can't imagine what that would be like...

Comments? Am I way off here, or do you know what I mean? Are you with me on this, or against me?

Phew...

... Sorry this blog is late getting up. I was out at this outdoor play last night (my friend invited me, and I went without asking questions), and it ended up being an hour longer than it was supposed to, and it rained, and it was a 3 man play with no sets... It was called Someone To Watch Over Me... I can appreciate this stuff, but I just can't like it. That's probably a horrible admission to make, but there's only so much I can take of 3 guys sitting on the ground talking to each other before dead boredom sets in and I start reciting the alphabet backwards in my head to pass the time.

I promise to make a more interesting post tonight! Don't forsake the blog for this one missed day!

Men

Okay, I'm going to try and answer Warren's question.

I am not a Matt Damon Fan. Although I can see the appeal. However, if I was going to be caught on a deserted island with either him or egg-head Ben, I would choose him over Beniffer in a heart beat.

But, getting down to what really matters, my top choices for male celebrities are as follows:

1. Ewen McGregor.
Damn hot. Love him. Accent... Love it. Dimples... Love it... Feauxhawk... Love it. Bring it. Seriously. Not to mention he's a Jedi... What's cooler than that?

There's something about a mysteriously mischievous guy that's so freakin' sexy. He's got a great grin... And him singing Elton John's "Your Song"??? Dear God, over the top.

2. Robbie Williams
There's something about him... I just find him really sexy. I'm not so much about the immediate physical thing, as much as I am about the oozing sexy vibe. Muscles... Don't care for 'em. But give me a pair of nice eyes, and a grin, and I'm there. Especially in that cowboy video he did. Yummy.

3. Tom Cruise, specifically in Top Gun. Is there a girl in this blog who can say they didn't appreciate the volleyball scene in that movie? Yea, that's right. We can say what we want about him, but he's hot. I liked him in Mission Impossible 1 too!

Okay, that's it for me. If I think of more, I'll let you know, but specifically, these are the men I lust for (besides Adam and Warren, of course).

Ned Mouse Breaks Away

Ned Mouse Breaks Away is a fantastic book. I mean really... Super funny. Totally worth tracking down in your local library or bookstore (plug here for Michelle's ultra fun store) and buying. It's a children's easy read about a mouse who's thrown in jail for disagreeing with the government, who in turn spends his captivity thinking up "creative" ways of escaping. You'll have to read it to find out what happens... So good... So bizarre (as a kids book that is.)

Find it, read it, pass it on to someone else to read. Very much a sharing book, 'cause it's hard to believe someone actually wrote it. I wonder if Tim Wynne-Jones (the author) and the Ninja guy know each other???

12 Step Program

My name is Amanda... And I love Sade. That's right. I love Sade. Smooth Operator? What's not to love? And the slow song, By Your Side?! I mean really... Is there a better slow song than that? I don't think so. I dare somebody to find something better.

Not to mention it was Sade who turned the "pony tail" into a fashion accessory. Now that's my kinda lady.

Ho Hum... (twiddle twiddle)

My parents are leaving for their vacation today.
12 days cruising the Mediterranean.
Poo.

Not only am I jealous, but I hate staying home by myself. It's so freakin' lonely. Plus, it's scary. All I have to say is, I'm glad I can at least use their car to get to work while they're gone, cause I'm up so damn late watching TV trying to bore myself to sleep... It's the only way I can do it, man... I'm way to paranoid about all the noises and stuff.

See, we have an old house, with 4 floors including the basement, and it creaks and moans, and the hot water heaters pop every once and awhile, and then the cat starts staring at something I can't see and takes off running for the door for no apparent reason, so I get all wierded out, like "who the hell is in my house?" when really it's nothing, it's just the cat nip wearing off so he's got the freaky-geebies (the cat, not the unnamed intruder).

The worst is having to go to the basement... I swear I run back up the stairs so fast... And I don't run, so that's saying something.

Plus, I always end up with concurs from not eating well. Man alive. My parents leave me alone in their house for 12 days a year and I practically get Scurvy. I'm pathetic. It's hard to believe  I'm 24, huh?

Tell me I'm not the only one wierded out by big scary old houses... In the dark... Alone... With a freak-oid cat... And concurs?

Oooooo... Buddies!

I don't know about everybody else, but I'm super excited about this buddy thing. I think first semester last year would have been so much easier had I had someone to bounce ideas off of. I mean, in second semester, after sharing the turmoil of 536 with some of them, it was nice being in the computer lab and feeling comfortable enough to ask about (horror of horrors, I promise never to utter these numbers together again) 505. Imagine if we could have asked, "how much stress should I really exert over these  weekly 506 assignments?"

I'm going to be the best buddy I can be. Remember in that episode of Saved By the Bell where Zack and Lisa and Screetch make "Buddy Bands" in their business class and market them to their fellow Baysiders?! Well, I'm going to make my buddy Buddy Bands, and we'll wear them to school and everyone will be jealous and all the kids will say, "I want a Buddy Band" and then I'll make millions selling my Buddy Bands to U of A students, only to retire early and become a recluse like Howard Hughes. But I'll still keep in contact with my Buddy, guiding them through the historical person essay, and advising them to print 6 slides to a page in 536 (cause no one really read the notes in that class anyway, right?)

Oh buddy-I-don't-know-yet, how much fun we'll have. I wonder if you'll like pina coladas? And taking walks in the rain?

"No Ugly Things" Policy

Such a good weekend.
Such.
A.
Good.
Weekend.
Sigh.
I don't know what else to say... The wedding was beautiful. Adam looked so handsome. So fun.
Why can't there be a wedding to go to every day?
I think if I wasn't going to be a librarian I would be a wedding coordinator... Only I don't think I could put up with some of the ugly things people do in their weddings. I'd have to have a "no ugly things" policy. Think that'd work?

Sigh.
I love weddings.

p.s. Oh Martha... 5 months! You'll be eaten alive in 5 months. And no doubt your cell mates will skip the classy dill-chutney marinade and go straight for the knee caps. I'm still your bestest most favoritest-alicious fan.

I'M TOO EXCITED TO SLEEP!!!

Okay, my first friend is getting married this weekend (the first wedding of a friend, not my first friend's wedding).... And Adam is coming to Hamilton... TONIGHT!(it's 12:00am here, my time)

I am way too excited! I haven't seen him in 2 months, 19 days, and 9 hours! It should be illegal how excited I am. Not only do I get to hit myself with the pretty stick for the wedding, but I also get to hit Adam with it (nothing better than a man--who smells good--in a suit), and then I get to take a spin or two around a golf course ballroom to a slow tune! Sigh. Does life get any better?

Okay, I'm off to bed... Let's hope I can get my head to stop buzzing long enough to sleep and prevent dark eye circles (never an attractive sight.)

Aaaaphft (sound of my head exploding due to excitement.)

Hmmm, maybe I should do one more deep conditioning exfoliating mask?

What about another coat of shimmer top coat on my toes?

Is it to early to do my hair?

Oh god...

Another Question...

I love a good, plain Bic pen. You know, the clear one with the blue pointy lid that I can't get enough of chewing? I think they write the best, and they look the best. I just love a good Bic pen. Some people will pay an arm and a leg for fancy refillable pens. Not me. Give me a .99 cent bag of Bics, blue, with a couple red and black for spice, and I'm set. I'd go so far as to say I will never buy another type of pen. I am completely satisfied with my Bics (and somewhat compulsive about my notes all looking the same, so it works out well for me and my compulsive behaviors). Does anyone else have weird pen obsessions or am I flying solo here?

P.S. Keri! It's not too late! Send me your address at anlarsen@ualberta.ca

So Quiet!

It's been so quiet at the blog lately... Where is everyone? Even Warren isn't his normal, poetic self, opting for short, plain messages instead, leaving us bloggers wanting for more content.

Jenny (at camp, I forgot)? Valerie? Keri? Michelle? Heather? Where is everone? Don't tell me you're all working?! Poo on work. Come back to the bloooooooooogggggg... Coooommmmeee baaaaaaaaaaaaaack (is my hypnotism working?)

Sonya, it's you and me keeping up with the comments, baby. Don't fail me now!

P.S. My kitty cat is lying beside me all passed out like from the heat, with a ribbon in his mouth. He's taken to carrying his ribbon wherever he goes... Should I be worried?

An Ode to My Martha

On the eve of her sentencing, a poem:

M is for most favortist late night TV addiction.

A is for always inspiring me to choose the highest thread count.

R is for ridicchio and roquefort, two foods I wouldn't have tried without you.

T is for too many wreaths at Christmas... Is such a thing possible? I really don't think so.

H
is for hoite toite, of which you are (and rightly so), of which I love.

A is for a good thing.

That's right. I'm a Martha Stewart fan. DO YOU HEAR ME? I'M A MARTHA FAN! I'M SHOUTING IT OUT LOUD! I LIKE MARTHA STEWART AND I'M NOT AFRAID TO SAY IT! MY PILLOWS ARE MARTHA BRAND! MY COOKBOOKS ARE MARTHA! I PAY $6 EVERY SEASON FOR A MARTHA STEWART WEDDINGS MAGAZINE!

(Martha? If you're reading this... Don't worry... I won't turn my back on you like some of the turncoats in Connecticut. Your craftiness will always be aces with me.)
(P.S. If you need someone to care for the hens at Turkey Hill while you're in the slammer, let me know. I'm your lady.)

(P.P.S. I hope you're all okay after the uber storm in Edmonton!)

Who knew things like this existed? Crazy man...

What'dya think Lisa woulda' thought if we'd handed that in as our final 534 project?

Hee hee hee. Too funny.

Oh The Shame...

My sister and I went to see the latest Michael Moore show tonight. We went to our local theatre, Westdale--much like the Garneau or Princess--bringing Hamilton all the "art-sy" and/or political, award winning flicks.

Westdale Theatre

Funny thing. I always feel like I'm being given the hairy eyeball when I come out of that theatre, and I climb into my car to drive home. I feel like one of the bad guys who's not using the bus, or hitching up a team of organically fed steeds to carry me home, like many of the others who frequent the Westdale theatre. Not really... No one actually hitches up a team... But you know, I bet they would if there was a corral available for free grazing!

It's like I wanna shout from the rooftops, "It's okay! I ride my bike to work! I don't always drive! But if I drive, do I not bleed? I AM NOT AN ANIMAL!"

Sigh... The politics of it all.

Quicky

Just a quicky post. I have a "special something" to send each of you... But I will need your mailing addresses. Please, would you mind posting them on here, or if you're not comfortable doing that, sending them to me at
my school address?

I promise, you won't be disappointed!

Remember, the sooner the address, the sooner the surprise!!!

More Randomness

Have you ever been completely swallowed up by a song? I mean, have you ever stumbled across a song, maybe you've heard it a million times before but you've never really heard it, and then one day, you suddenly realize that the singer/song writer has completely captured your life?

I am totally in love with David Gray's, Babylon. I listen to it over and over in the car, and sing it in my head constantly. It's like it was written just for me, to explain certain events in my life, and reassure me that I'm not the only one who's gone through Babylon-like scenerios. I absolutely love it.

Also, if I were a chess piece I would be the castle-thingy-ma-boob, cause it's chubby (like moi, a full-figured piece), and it has that fun extra trick, what with the trading places with the king and all (my chess isn't up to snuff so I don't know all the tres impressive "official" names).

Also, I would like to have babies with Ryan Gosling. Yes, that's right, babies. Unbelievable. I want him to make out with me in the rain. I bet he smells really good. Hands. Arms. Beard. Yummy. All of it please. Although sometimes his nostrils have too much of the sticky-uppy thing going on, but I can look past it, as long as he acts like Noah from The Notebook all the time, all sexy-like and wood carpenter-y. Oh me. Oh my.

Also... Yea! Sonya has joined the group! Wahoo! Wahoo! Wahoo! It's a full on party all the time all the time in blog-a-go-go-land.

P.S. Sorry you had to sit through my little female swoon, Warren. I know you've just puked a little in you mouth over all the Ryan/Noah comments, but feel free to voice your own fmale celebrity lusts.

Big Moves

Okay, so Warren moved on Thursday, I think, or maybe Friday, and he's in a new house, all cozy like with Wolf and Puppy. And this got me thinking. Thinking about big moves...

Changing houses, you see, is a big matzah ball, or so I feel. It's a huge deal, what will all the packing and boxes and that awful tape that comes on the rolly-thingy that inevitably gets all stuck to itself and I end up getting mad and frustrated and taking it off the rolly-thingy and using my teeth.

God Awful Packing Tape Thingys

Ahem. Sorry. Um, so yea... Where was I? Moving? Oh yeah... Big moves.

It made me wonder about the "big moves" I've made in life. In truth, I can't think of many. In fact, I think the biggest move I made, both physically and emotionally, was for little 'ole homebody me to pack up and ship out to Edmonton to go to library school and be with Adam. Sometimes I feel silly when people share their stories about exotic travels, or huge emotional commitments they've made, and all I can think to compare myself with is a move to Edmonton. But really and truly, for me, that was a big deal. And I'm glad I did it. This one year has taught me more about myself than any other.

But I'm curious... What about other people? What are the biggest move you've ever made, physically, emotionally, romantically, or otherwise?

Please understand, in no way do I mean to pry... I'm just curious... People surprise me, see, and everyday I am amazed at the braveness and strength of those I meet.

So... Any takers?

P.S. Sorry there were no new posts on Friday, oh fellow blog addicts... I was at a cottage (see blog post, "Random")... Also, alas, I am the only one who can make new posts, although I will try and be more up-to-date.

P.P.S. You guys are going camping? Sigh... All the fun friend things I'm missing out on...

P.P.P.S. Don't forget to share the things you're doing on here... Like Jenny, who seems to be meeting all types of new people that I don't know and who may take her over as a friend cause she's doing fancy things with fancy friends and Genevieve who's got a new boyfriend maybe that she won't really tell us about although she's getting together with Jenny next weekend no doubt with Val too, and her new bit of stuff on the side... Sniff.

Random

The long weekend is fast approaching... To celebrate, my best friend Heather and I are going to a random guy's cottage... He's Heather's roommate's boyfriend's friend. I met him last Friday at Mardi Gras in Hess Village (like Whyte Ave but smaller and it's ALL pubs with patios). It probably didn't help that in honour of Mardi Gras, Heather and I decided to split 2 pitchers between us, the first time we'd been out to have a drink in, oh... I don't know... MONTHS.

I know I know... It sounds like a plot line to a horror movie. But don't worry, guys. Heather and I are a fearsome twosome, fighting crime, saving the world, battling guys who drink Canadian, and waging war against Highway 401 North holiday weekend traffic.

Besides which, we learned earlier today that in fact the majority of the people at the cottage will be couples, except for Heather and I, and some random guy named, oh yes, "Fabio". I'm not joking. For real. Looks like Heather and I are faking the lesbian thing once again (another story all together), to get out of 48 hours of visual undressing by a hairy Italian man. Won't the nightly bonfires be cosy?

What's everyone else up to?

p.s. I think I need a little more information about this "James" character Val has managed to slip into conversation... You can tell us, Val! We're your blogging friends! And Warren's not checking in, so you're among girls. Besides, it's not like you'll be publishing your private life on the Internet for everyone to see... Hee hee hee...

Things to Think On

Things to Think On #1

Do we think rockstars, namely 80's metal/rock band members like Bret Michaels from Poison and Axl Rose from Guns and Roses (and Warren, please, if I've classified these guys in the incorrect musical "genre" don't shoot me), known for their tight fitting leather britches that looked more like black plastic paint than an actual pant, wore things like that on a daily basis? I mean, do you think that if they were lying around their house they would wear those kinda pants? What if they were going to an all you can eat place, like The Mandarin, for chinese food? Don't you think it would get uncomfortable?

Maybe that's why they all turned to drugs... I would turn to drugs too if my pants were tight all the time.

What'dya think?
(some photos to think on)
